Zouma to be sentenced next week for kicking a cat

West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma will know his fate on June 1 after the French defender pleaded guilty to kicking and slapping his pet cat.

Zouma was filmed alongside his co-accused, brother Yoan, for kicking a cat in a video taken at Zouma’s home in London.

Zouma, 27, and his brother, Yoan who plays for Dagenham and Redbridge, admitted two and one offence respectively under the Animal Welfare.

Yoan, 24 admitted to the offence of filming the incident, which was posted on social media, accompanied by ‘laughing’ emojis, on 6 February.

The video was reported to authorities by a woman who is said to have been massaging Yoan.

In the video that went viral, Zouma could be seen volleying the cat across his kitchen, before throwing a pair of shoes. He also slapped the cat on the head while saying: “I swear I’ll kill it, I swear I’ll kill it!”

Zouma who has since been left out of the French National team squad admitted to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. Yoan, meanwhile admitted to aiding his elder brother in breaching the animal’s rights.
