The police in South Sudan have placed a bounty of SSP2 million on the heads of five suspected criminals accused of engaging in crimes of torturing victims and abductions.

The individuals are accused of committing series of human violations including kidnapping and killings travelers along major roads leading to and out of capital Juba in recent weeks,

“This is to inform the general public that the police are looking at the persons whose pictures appear below. With the public’s help for their arrest, the police are putting up two million South Sudanese Pounds for any person who will give information that will lead their arrest,” the public notice partly read.

The identity of the individuals whose images were published on the country’s national newspapers included Luamy Latjor Bol Khon,  Gatduel Gatchang Koang Laoi, Chan Riek Peat Dhoar Samuel Gatweac and Gatmai Kon Kuol  Chileny.

According to the police, the individuals have been practicing criminal activities which includes kidnapping people, torturing, maiming and killing some of them if their relatives failed to pay ransoms they demanded.

Last week, kidnappers demanded SSP45 million as a ransom before they could release nine abductees who were travelling along the Juba-Terekeka road.
