The South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA) bid farewell to its outgoing Deputy Commissioner General, Taban Abel Aguek, with a vote of thanks for his services on Wednesday.

Mr. Abel officially handed over to his successor, John Mading Bol Makuac, who was recently appointed by President Salva Kiir through a presidential decree.

In his remarks, Kiir Yor Lual, the Commissioner of Corporate Services, praised Abel’s contribution to the Authority’s growth.

“Whatever we achieved here, it was through significant contributions from our outgoing deputy commissioner general. I must take this opportunity to thank him and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Yor said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner General of the SSRA, Simon Akuei Deng, also applauded Abel’s leadership and emphasized the spirit of teamwork that prevailed during his tenure.

“On behalf of the family of the South Sudan Revenue Authority, I thank you for your dedication, work expertise, and honesty that you brought to this institution about ten months ago,” Akuei remarked.

He further stressed the transparent style of leadership under Abel.

“Allow me to pay tribute to my colleague Taban Abel for a job well done. We have been very transparent in implementing the government agenda, and that is why whatever decision we take is known; there is no secrecy. We take shared decisions from the leadership level down to the staff,” he said.

In his farewell speech, Taban Abel Aguek expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the leadership and staff of the SSRA for their teamwork and cooperation.

“I appreciate you in my heart so much, the deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, and all the staff of the SSRA   for your love, commitment, support, and cooperation during my time in office. You are the source of our strength,” he said.

Abel urged the staff across departments to remain united and continue rallying behind the leadership to deliver better services to the people of South Sudan.

The incoming Deputy Commissioner General, John Mading Bol, who previously served as Assistant Commissioner for the Large Tax Unit (LTU) in the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by both the President and the Commissioner General.

“I would like to assure the President of South Sudan and my boss that I am ready and committed to working hard and to supporting your leadership. I shall never disappoint the institution of SSRA, and I will never disappoint the President and my Boss, the Commissioner General,” he pledged.
