Yei Joint Stars crowned champions, again

Defending champions Yei Joint Stars thrashed Yambio giants Nile City Women FC 6-0 to win their second consecutive Women’s South Sudan Cup title.
Moreen Makunga scored within the first 10 minutes, boosting the winners’ spirits igniting celebrations at Buluk Playground.
Nile City Women FC of Yambio restructured their defense to keep Yei goal machines away from the net, at least in the first half.
Their strategies paid off, as they ended half time with only Makunga’s goal separating the two teams. The victors were never satisfied with the one-nil score, which they believed could have been different if they had taken things more easily.
Mariam Luiz, reopened the floodgate with a screamer in the 48th minute to make it 2-0.
Rahama Cosmas scored a contentious goal in the 60th minute, causing the Yambio ladies to be irritated with the referees’ decision.
They claimed it wasn’t a goal since the ball collided with the upper bar and dropped down the stairwell, which no one could verify due to darkness.
One Yambio player received a straight red card after hurling insults at the central referee, Staller, over his judgment.
Deborah Stephen Luka, the tournaments’ leading scorer, hooked in her second goalof the game in the 70th minute before Cosmos registered her sound to make it 5-0 in the 75th.
Deborah scored her 14th goal of the tournament in the 80th minute to lead the Yei Joints Stars to a 6-0 victory against Nile City in the finals, thanks to goal machine girl Luka.
South Sudan women will now be represented by Yei Joint Stars in CAF and other regional tournaments.
