Yambio Star FC director resigns, eyeing L-FA presidency

The Yambio Star Football Club managing director, Martin Siba, popularly known as Sheikh Mansour, has officially resigned as the club’s sports director. He has subsequently registered his candidature for the Yambio Local Football Association (L-LFA) presidency.

Yambio Local Football Association (Y-LFA) is currently headed by the interim president, Silvester Ruati, who took over after the resignation of Felix Katier from the YLFA presidency in February this year.

In a statement posted on the club’s Facebook page on Monday, Katier said that his time with the club had come to an end and that it was time for him to move on to the next stage of football development in the state.

He thanked the club and supporters for their support, saying they helped him deliver on his responsibilities.

“Everything has its own time. I joined because I am passionate about the club. My resignation does not mean that the game is over for me. Democracy is something I believe in. My time has come to move on and allow others a chance, but I’m not going anywhere. I am announcing my campaign for YLFA president, “Mansour explained.

Mr. Siba is committed to working hard in order to bring significant improvements to the Y-LFA, particularly in terms of development.

“I want to bring change to YLFA and improve infrastructure, and I won’t rely on cash from SSFA to do so. I can provide money from my own pocket or fight for extra funds to help the organization. “

He became the manager of Yambio Star FC in 2015, when the club was struggling in the first division in Yambio, and steered the team to win the South Sudan Cup and the League Cup in 2022.

The Yambio Local Football Association is expected to conduct the election for the presidency at the end of this month, although the exact date has not been scheduled.

In February this year, the Yambio Local Football Association (Y-LFA) President, Felix Francis Katie, and Vice President, Kondo Samuel Ningso, resigned after being in office for almost four years after their election in 2019.

In the letter, they both expressed their dissatisfaction with the nature of their jobs, stating that they would not be able to serve at the same time.

“I would like to inform you of my resignation from the position of president of the Yambio Local Football Association, effective from the date of this letter.

“I appreciate the opportunities the General Assembly and the football fraternity bestowed upon me during my tenure in the office. The nature of my work now does not allow me to hold the position and be effective, “the Y-LFA ex-president, Katie stated in the letter.
