The newly appointed Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State and designated Chairman of the state’s SPLM Daniel Badagbu, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to South Sudan Vice President and Chair of the Economic Cluster Services Dr. James Wani Igga.
The visit, which took place at the vice president’s office in Juba, aimed to strengthen political ties and seek high-level support as Badagbu embarks on his new role in Western Equatoria.
Badagbu expressed his desire to engage with the party leadership and align his efforts with the government’s broader objectives for peace and development in the state.
In his remarks, Dr. Igga congratulated the deputy governor on his new appointment and praised his loyalty to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM). “Your dedication to the party and your readiness to take on this assignment at the state level is commendable,” said Igga. “The top leadership is fully behind you, and we will work together to ensure peace, unity, and harmony in Western Equatoria.”
Badagbu’s visit also serves as a continuation of his long-standing relationship with the SPLM, having previously held the position of National Secretary for Information, Communication, and Culture. His new role as Deputy Governor is seen as a critical step toward strengthening governance and fostering political stability in Western Equatoria.
As he assumes his duties, Badagbu has pledged to work closely with state and national leaders to address key challenges facing the state. The Vice President’s assurance of top-level support is expected to play a significant role in Badagbu’s efforts to promote unity and development in Western Equatoria.
“I am ready to serve the people of Western Equatoria with all my strength and to ensure that the ideals of peace and development are realized,” Badagbu stated after the meeting.
The visit underscores the SPLM’s ongoing efforts to bolster its leadership in the states and reinforce its mission to unify South Sudan in the pursuit of national peace and prosperity.
Deputy governor Daniel Badagbu becomes the third deputy governor in Western Equatoria state from the SPLM party, following the removal of Elias Richard Box who saved only for four months before his removal by President Kiir.
“Your dedication to the party and your readiness to take on this assignment at the state level is commendable,” South Sudan Vice President, Dr. James Wani Igga.
