The Vice President and Chairman Economic cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, has appealed to the citizens and government institutions to fully support Hon. Adut Salva Kiir, the newly appointed Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs.

He described her appointment as a reflection of President Salva Kiir’s commitment to placing capable leaders in critical national roles.

Receiving Hon. Adut for a courtesy call on Wednesday, Dr. Bol Bel congratulated her on the appointment and underscored the importance of translating the President’s special programs into tangible benefits for the people.

“I urge the people of South Sudan to extend their full support to the Senior Presidential Envoy,” he said, emphasizing that her distinguished record in humanitarian and community service makes her uniquely positioned to succeed in this role.

During the meeting, the Vice President highlighted the need for coordinated action across government clusters to ensure swift and effective implementation of the President’s initiatives.

He pledged the full collaboration of the Economic Cluster and called on other clusters to rally behind Hon. Adut’s mandate.

Dr. Bol Mel said that under her leadership, the President’s vision will reach every household, improving public services, strengthening livelihoods, and creating new opportunities for communities across the country.

Last week, Hon. Adut was appointed as the President’s Special Envoy for Special Programmes, coming into a position that observers say carries significant weight and is key to delivery of crucial programmes in various sectors of the economy.

Giving her remarks during a family celebration held in her honor on Sunday, Adut pledged to prioritize the empowerment of youth and women.

She outlined them as fundamental pillars of sustainable development and peace building in the country.

Adut said achieving peace requires improving basic services, underlining that peace and reconciliation must be built on organized governmental initiatives focused on essential services such as healthcare, education, and agriculture.

As a sign of cooperation and collaboration, Hon. Adut embarked on meetings with key leaders heading allied institutions that will be key to delivering her mandate. In addition to paying a courtesy visit to Economic Cluster Vice President Dr. Bol Mel, the Senior Special Envoy also paid courtesy visits to H.E Rebecca Nyandeng, the Vice President for Gender and Youth as well as H.E Josephine Lagu, who heads the services Cluster, all promising support.

“It is my joy to support and encourage you in this journey… Serve your people with courage,” VP Nyandeng said, pledging her unwavering support and paving way into the role.

Hon Adut is responsible for handling national tasks that require direct oversight from the Presidency, and bridging gaps between ministries to ensure that urgent or politically sensitive programmes receive the necessary coordination and authority for timely implementation.

On the other hand, she will coordinate peacebuilding efforts, humanitarian response, and post-conflict recovery. This includes coordinating with government institutions, humanitarian agencies, and development partners on issues such as resettlement of displaced persons, rehabilitation of war-affected communities, and delivery of essential services in conflict-affected areas, among others.
