Two dead, eight injured in a conflict at an IDP camp
At least two people lost their lives while eight others critically injured in a deadly inter-communal conflict at an IDP camp last night.
The conflict started at 8 pm, on the night of Sunday, June 26, in Konyo-Konyo IDPs camp, according to Pastor Jobi Ochalla, a community leader who spoke to City Review.
“The clashes broke out yesterday in Mash IDPs Camp at Konykonyo, Juba, between 8 pm and 9 pm, where suspected Murle and Anyuak clashed among themselves.
“In the process, one person died on the spot, while nine others were injured. Another later succumbed to injuries in the hospital,” said the Ochalla.
The injured were taken to Juba Juba Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
The motive of the clash is yet to be established.
He said most of the wounded people were women and all from Anyuak IDP groups.
Police is yet to make any arrests, according to locals.
Efforts to reach to Central Equatoria State police for comment were not immediately successful.
