Two boda-boda riders shot dead
Two boda-boda riders died while one suffered serious injuries from the attack by suspected armed robbers along Seretenya road in Ikwoto County.
Eastern Equatoria State said the incident happened on Sunday.
The trio was travelling from Seretenya to Ikwoto County.
The attackers fired disriminately about 4km from the town, killing two people on the spot.
Meanwhile, the survivor is currently receiving treatment at Ikwoto Primary Health Care. No arrest has been made so far.
Local authorities are still following leads to arrest the perpetrators of the heinous act.
Gun attacks have become a common phenomenon in the county in the past months.
Early in July, a businessman was killed along Ikwoto-Torit road by suspected armed robbers.
It was yesterday at around 7 pm when we heard a gunshot on the road leading to Ikotos and when the youth was sent to go and check who are the shooters they found the three people; two dead and the one injured,” Ikwoto County Joseph Lokolong Jenesio told City Review via phone.
At the same time, an activist has called on the government to intervene as the insecurity situation is getting worse in most parts of the state.
Oryema Emmanuel called for immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
“The incident in Ikoto will disrupt the smooth movement of humanitarian agencies who are providing aid in the area as well as the business.
Oryema expressed worries about the rampant security situation in the state, saying the government must be serious about the situation in the state.
