Tut Duer gets new interim deputy chairman

The leader of the SPLM-IO breakaway group, Duer Tut Duer, has appointed a new Interim Deputy Chairman to take the party through the transitional arrangement.
In a statement seen by The City Review, Duer said the party has handed the interim deputy chairmanship role to Gen. Mayom Chol Duot.
“In exercise of powers of the Interim Chairman of the SPLM-IO (The Reformists), I, Duer Tut Duer Makuac, do hereby issue this Order for the appointment of Gen. Mayom Chol Duot as Interim Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-IO (the Reformists),” the statement read in part.
Duer said the appointment has taken effect in the first week of February and terminates as soon as the party’s structure is established.
“The functions and powers of the Interim Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-IO (the Reformists) take effect on the 6th of February 2022 and terminate immediately after the formation and establishment of the permanent organs and structures of the movement,” the statement says.
Duer is currently leading the third splinter group within the SPLM-IO and has been a fierce critic of both Riek Machar and Gen. Simon Gatwech for their handling of the party’s political affairs.
