Tides subside as Acuei reinstalls undersecretary

The tides that had rocked the ministry of health have finally subsided as the minister for health, Elizabeth Acuei Yol reinstalls the Undersecretary, Dr Victoria Anib Majur.
The letter seen by The City Review directed the Undersecretary to resume her duties as soon as the order comes to force.
“In exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Article 114 (2) (c) and Article 31 of the Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan 2011 (as amended), read together with the Republican Decree No: 222/2020; I Elizabeth Acuei Yol, Minister for Health, do hereby issue this Ministerial order,” the statement read.
“Lifting the suspension of Dr Victoria Anib Majur, the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health. The Undersecretary for the Ministry of Health is hereby directed to resume her duty immediately.”
In October 2021, Dr Victoria was suspended by the minister after taking the advice of the vice president for the service cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Ayii Akol, to reshuffle the management of Juba Teaching Hospital in the absence of the minister and without her consent.
Achuei revoked the reshuffle afterwards, thereby causing an impasse between the ministry and the vice president, Akol. Akol blamed Achuei for not appointing an acting minister before her departure abroad.
President Kiir directed his security advisor, Tut Gatluak Manime, to settle the impasse. However, the conflict seemed to have remained unresolved as the undersecretary was spotted to be delivering her official duties blanketed by the powers of the vice president.
