SSCUP: Rumbek’s Zalan FC in Juba for semifinals

The Rumbek giants and 2021-2022 South Sudan Cup Zone One champions, Zalan Football Club, have arrived in Juba as the competition nears its final stages.
In the 2021/2022 South Sudan Cup they beat, Al-Hilal FC from Wau in an exciting game where Al-Hilal led until the 73rd minute, only for Zalan to tie the game with a goal from forward Madol.
The game was transformed in the almost 90th minute when forward Anyak completed the Rumbek side’s surprising comeback to tie the game at 2-2 in normal time, forcing the tie to be decided on a penalty kick, which Zalan won 5-4.
Their win earned them a strict 2021/2022 South Sudan semifinals date, which will see them face the runners of Zone two (Juba) Jebel Koteen of Kapoeta, Eastern Equatoria State on February 13, 2022.
After a 3-1 loss in their zonal finals last week, Jebel Koteen FC finished second in Zone Two, trailing Super Star FC of Bor. However, Zone One is regarded as one of the best zones, with several clubs from other zones competing in it.
Super Star FC of Bor, Zalan FC of Rumbek, and Jebel Koteen FC of Kapoeta are through to this year’s South Sudan Cup semifinals, while Al-Hilal FC of Wua and Al-Qadasia FC of Renk have to battle for the semifinals through playoffs.
The two will meet at the playoffs on 10/02/2022 and 12/02/2022, and the winners will face the heavyweight of Bor Super Star in the semifinals.
The 2021/2022 South Sudan Cup semifinal games will kick off on February 13 when Governor Rin’s Zalan FC will take on Jebel Koteen of Lobong. All games will be played at Buluk Playground.
On February 15, 2022, Zone Two’s champions, Super Star FC of Bor, will take on the winner between Al-Hilal FC of Wau and Al-Qadasia FC of Renk.
The losers of that game will play on February 19, 2022, to determine the third-place team in the competition.
The 2021/2022 South Sudan Cup finals will be on February 20, 2022.
The winners of the South Sudan Cup will qualify for this year’s CAF Confederation.
Atlabara FC Juba used to be one of the most dominant clubs in South Sudan, representing the country in numerous continental competitions, notably the CAF Champions League.
The CAF Confederation is an annual club association football competition organised by the CAF since 2004.
Clubs qualify for the competition based on their performance in their national leagues and cup competitions.
