South Sudan hours close to unified command
The Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Tut Gatluak has revealed that army officers to form the unified command will be announced between Saturday and Monday.
At a press briefing on Friday at the headquarters of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), Gatluak revealed the progress made by the presidency on Friday at a press briefing where he urged the senior military officers who head the various security mechanisms to implement the security arrangements to form a unified army in the country.
He said the announcement will be made between Saturday and Monday once SPLM-IO and SSOA submit their lists, which would pave the way for the graduation of the unified forces who have spent two years at the training centres.
“At least early next week, the president will issue a decree to complete the formation of the unified command structure of the army, and after that, everyone will go to the sector or place where they are deployed to work for the citizens and peace, “Tut revealed on Friday.”
“It is after the last decision that we will have peace and stability in South Sudan.” There will be no more problems. The remaining things we shall finish together, and thereafter, accusations and counter-accusations here and there will stop, “he told the military senior officers.
Tut directed the three chiefs of staff of IO, SSOA, and SSPDF to give orders to their forces after the unification process, saying, “There will be nothing like this side belongs to this person. People will be together in the barracks and talk with one another. “
“It remains only Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for us to be unified. You will not be here and there. There is no way. The country should be in peace and, after that everyone will know where they belong, “said the security advisor.”
He urged the high-ranking military officers to now focus on how to graduate the forces and how the forces will be redeployed in the various sectors of the army, such as police, military, prison, national security, fire brigade, and others, and also train the forces in phase two at the training centres.
‘‘Some training centres will be impacted because if last year’s water does not drain and is combined with this year’s, how will we deliver food to the forces in the training centres, we should prepare because the training centres may be affected. This is the time we must ensure food is delivered to the centres before the training for phase two commences because the rainy season is approaching. So, we need to think about this, “he urged.
