Prosecute Nimule attackers, Gov’t told

The national government has been challenged to identify, arrest and prosecute individuals involved in the heinous attacks in Melijo and Mugali Payams in Nimule Eastern Equatoria State respectively.

The Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmund Yakani said that the Eastern Equatoria State government and Bor Community were locked in a blame game and it was necessary to ensure that culprits in the attacks were unmasked for prosecution.

‘‘There is contradictory levelling of the identity of the perpetrators. It is essential that the identity of the perpetrators is established,’’ Yakani said in a statement.

Yakani urged both state and national government to urgently deploy security forces to the areas of the violence to prevent deadly revenge attacks.

He stated, ‘‘the fear is that any revenge attack may be more deadly than the registered incident of the cattle raiding. A sustainable solution is required to these frictions between farmers of Magwi County and pastoralists of Dinka Bor.’’
