Ten youth suspected to be members of an organized gang have been arrested by police in Bor.

The suspects, aged between 18 and 25, were found in positions of illegal drugs.

The incident took place in Pakwau residential area on the eve of SPLA Day, according to Major Daniel Mabior Garang, the Commander of Police Operations.

Police said that the suspects were in possession of 10 kilograms of cannabis also known locally as Marijuana or ‘bangi’.

“We were tipped off that members of the gang were roaming in the neighbourhood and were about to commit a crime in the residential areas.

“Some of them are smokers and others are dealers who are dealing with the selling of these illegal drugs”.

The operation was led by Jonglei state Police commissioner Major General Elia Kosta.

The sale or consumption of Marijuana is prohibited in South Sudan.

Major General Kosta said the suspects are yet to be arranged in the court for trials.
