Kang Chol to attend SSOP conference

The Minister of Petroleum, Puot Kang Chol, has confirmed that he will attend the upcoming fifth edition of the South Sudan Oil and Power (SSOP) conference that will be hosted in Juba between September 13-14.

The conference will bring together regional and international investors with the goal of financing and developing the country’s large-scale energy and infrastructure projects alongside.

“Dynamic partnership and investment opportunities will be on display during the two-day event of networking, panel discussions and deal-making” read a statement by Energy Capital and Power to the media.

“We are very excited to confirm Hon. Puot Kang Chol to this year’s event. South Sudan’s impressive energy developments, backed by the Ministry of Petroleum, invite a new era of stability and growth in which ECP is proud to be a part of,” says James Chester, ECP Senior Director quoted in the press statement.

South Sudan Oil and Power 2022, according to energy capital and power (ECP), is the organization’s longest-running event and serves as the official meeting place for South Sudan’s oil, gas, and power industries, bringing together regional leaders, foreign financiers, and national firms.

Pouth is credited for his pivotal role in the growth of South Sudan’s hydrocarbons sector. Under his tenure, the country launched a first licensing round in June 2021 and renewed engagement with leading international oil corporations such as China, Nigeria and Nile Petroleum Corporation, among others, to drive exploration of South Sudan’s oil and gas.
