Over seven candidates locked out of exams in Unity State

More than seven candidates in Unity State have missed the South Sudan Certificate Secondary Examinations due to the deprivation of index numbers, the state’s education coordinator in Juba has said.

“We have more than seven students who failed to get their index numbers, and we convinced them as the state about how the situation is and next time they should be able to come in time,” Joseph Majuk, the State Education Coordinator of Unity State said.

He made the statement after the nationwide launch of the South Sudan Secondary Examination (SSCSE) at Buluk “A” Primary School on Wednesday in Juba.

“Some of the students came to register for their index when it was too late, and I think some of the names were not put correctly into the system. That could also confuse someone,” Majuk said.

He encouraged the students not to worry, as they would sit next year.

However, Majuk said a solution would be made in case a large number of students who miss the exams is registered in other examination centres, in which case the government might make special arrangements for them.

“And if not at all, then we will give them a chance another time,” he said.

The Protection of Civilians Site has five schools, which include the Future Secondary School, Mat, Hope, Equity and Bright Secondary Schools. He added that in Manga Ten, there are two other centres, Mat and High Future secondary school.

“In Manga Ten, the total number of students writing their exams are 750 and 1,313 students from the PoC, and these are the candidates that are now entitled to sit for their exams on behalf of the Unity state in Juab.”

According to Majuk, the students are well-prepared for the exams, and he is optimistic that they will pass the examinations.
