One killed, 4 injured as armed youth wreak havoc in Tonj

At least one person has been killed and four others left critically injured after armed youth from Lakes State unleashed terror on their counterparts in Tonj East County of Warrap State.
Warrap State Minister of Information Ring Deng accused the youth from Rumbek North County of waging attacks on the youth from Tonj East County on Saturday.
Deng told The City Review that at least 200 cattle were raided in the armed inter-communal clashes cutting across the two states.
“The community of Luaj-Jang at pagam section attacked Mon Dieu Payar cattle camp of Makwach Payam of Tonj East County that led to the death of one person and 4 injured,” he said.
“More than 200 heads of cattle were raided although some were recovered by the youth from Tonj,” Deng added.
The Information Minister said the Lakes State government was working to control the issue of inter-communal attacks adding that there was no need for the two states to confront each other.
“I urge the community of Tonj East to remain calm as the government of Warrap State will follow this case and settle the issue,” he said.
He said that he was not sure of how many people attacked the area but the number was big.
Meanwhile, The City Review tried to reach Lakes State authorities for comments but could not get a response as several phone calls went unanswered.
