National Revenue Authority declares April 15 deadline for tax payments

The commissioner for the domestic tax revenue division, Chol Paul Kur, has declared April 15 as the deadline for individual businesses and government institutions to pay their due taxes.
He told the taxpayers that the deadline for their tax filling and payment is April 15, 2025, for all monthly tax returns fillings and payments, including the Business Profit Tax (BPT) and Personal Income Tax (PIT) entrepreneur quarterly filling and payment for the 1st quarter.
The taxes include the Personal Income Tax Withholdings (PIT-W), on wages/salaries, rental of properties, government contracts, technical fees, dividend pay and royalties, lottery and other gaming winnings.
He also added that the Sales/Excise tax/ on manufacturing Companies, hotels, bars and restaurant services, financial institutions, Travel and tour agencies, and telecommunication services are required to be filed and paid.
“The Business Profit Tax (BPT)/Personal Income Tax(PIT), Presumptive Tax for entrepreneurial activities of sole proprietors 1st Quarterly advance filing and payment shall be due by 15th April 2025,” the statement read in part.
The commissioner further added that any tax filling and payment that has not been done during the previous tax periods should also be filled and paid immediately, including business profit tax/personal Income tax for entrepreneurial activities of sole proprietors as well as arrears arising from the other mentioned tax liabilities above.
Chol hinted that the taxpayers who still have tax arrears to clear in the DTIS should pay through the various collecting commercial banks designated and then switch to online payment immediately.
“Every unregistered business with South Sudan Revenue Authority, doing business without Tax Identification Number (TIN) is doing so illegally and is a criminal offence as stipulated in section 113 and 114 (a), (b). of the Taxation Act 2009 as amended,” he warned.
However, he urged unregistered businesses to register to get a tax identification number.
