Mundri Commissioner launches weekly clean-up blitz

The Commissioner of Mundri West County, Western Equatoria State Zilpha Dawa, has declared Friday as a general cleaning day in the town.
Addressing the public at Mundri market, Dawa said it was high time for the public in her county to take the responsibility of keeping the town a clean and a safe place.
“The launching of cleaning campaign today in Mundri town is going to continue, and every Friday is now for general cleaning in our town. So, let us keep our country clean, especially in our markets. You should always organize your shop, clean it, and make it look clean,” Dawa said.
She called on the communities to be patriotic to the country saying keeping Mundri City clean was the responsibility of everyone living in the area.
“So, it is all of us to put our hands to keep our place clean, yes, these are places where we leave our belongings; can we leave them for someone to clean for us,” she asked.
The cleaning campaign was launched by the authorities in collaboration with Mundri’s business community. It was organized under the theme “Keep Mundri clean and green.”
The event was attended by the county’s high authorities, headed by the commissioner, community leaders, as well as chiefs, including members of NGOs and traders.
Ms. Dawa encouraged the communities to keep cleaning the market to protect them from diseases caused by poor hygiene.
“By taking it as our home, you have your room where you sleep and eat, and by doing that, we would have saved ourselves from diseases,” she emphasized.
