MTN boosts S. Sudan Premier League with $300,000 sponsorship deal

With the $300,000 support, the leading telco has inked its name in the books of exemplary companies sponsoring sporting activities in the country

South Sudan Premier League benefitted from a lucrative sponsorship deal worth USD300,000 from telecommunication company MTN. The sponsorship deal is expected to last three years.

MTN has been at the forefront as one of the companies in the private sector that have showed up to support talent among other key initiatives aimed at boosting South Sudan economy.

Robert Zacharia, Head Investment and Marketing for South Sudan Football Association urged other private companies to follow in these footsteps.

Meanwhile, Reagan Tokore, representative of the football clubs heaped praise for MTN for supporting to the country’s football association and for its role in developing local talents.

He said the premier league is attracting different nationalities, including, Ugandans, Kenyans, Congolese, Central Africa Republic, Burundians and Nigerians, among others. The representative said his hopes would be to see the premier league become the second leading after South Africa’s.

With the $300,000 support, the leading telco has inked its name in the books of exemplary companies sponsoring sporting activities in the country.

The company’s presence was also felt when the national basketball team flew high in the global arena, and even continentally, walking with the Bright Stars through their journey to basketball stardom.

The current three-year deal with the premier league comes at a crucial time when local football needs the much-needed lift.  Both partners expressed gratitude towards regarding the sponsorship deal, which is expected to run until 2027.

Mr. Ali Monzer, the Chief Executive of MTN South Sudan stressed that the partnership between the company and the MTN and the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), is not only for the sake of partnering, but also brings unity and boundless opportunities.

” We are celebrating talent. we are celebrating the boundless opportunities of this great nation, South Sudan,” Monza said.
