MPS from Unity State take oath

Unity State Governor Joseph Manytuil Wejang presided over the swearing-in of Yoahness Kujiek Ruot as the state advisor for Gender, Child and Social Welfare.

According to the state minister of information David Gai Giejor, eight members of Parliament from SSOA also took the oath of office yesterday in the presence of the Speaker, Niger Nenger, and other members of Parliament. Also present was the presence of the Council of Ministers of Unity State.

The oath was administered by Judge Douth Kulang in the State General Secretariat.

In his key remarks, Governor Manytuil urged the Ruot to join hands with his colleagues to foster socio-economic growth that would address the welfare of the state citizens. Manytuil reiterated the commitments of the Unity State government to provide every necessary support or relief assistance to the flood victims.

Ruot applauded Governor Manytuil for the extraordinary support to the flood-affected people, and for maintaining peace, unity and stability among the people of Unity State.

Meanwhile, the state assembly speaker said the new members of Parliament who took the oath today were appointed by President Salva Kiir but they had to wait for a long to be sworn in because the House was not ready. 

The Speaker of the Parliament asked them to focus on peace and coexistence among all the communities of Unity State and to work together for the state development.

Giejor appealed to the newly-sworn legislators to cooperate with the state government to stabilise the state and through the peace mobilisation that would ensure that calm is restored in the state.
