The Minister for Water Resources and Irrigation, Peter Manawa Gatkuoth, is dead.

Gatkuoth died Sunday, June 19 in Cairo, Egypt, where he was rushed for medical attention last week.

“He is dead,” Ateny, Wek Ateny, the Presidential Press Secretary, told City Review on the phone.

“He went to seek treatment in Egypt where he passed on,” he added.

Gakuoth was flown to Egypt in critical condition last week after he developed chest pain.

Gatkuoth was forced to skip the last Council of Ministers’ meeting held on Friday after his health deteriorated the previous night (Thursday).

He was set to give a presentation on the dredging of rivers.
