The commander of the Mapel training centre in Western Equatoria State, Brig. Gen. Benjamin Woll has said the three military centres have run out of basic services.

Brig. Gen. Woll, said the three training facilities of Mapel, which include the Mapel Training Centre, Mapel unified forces training Centre, and Mapel academics, are in dire need of basic services.

He made the remarks following the visit of the Western Bahr el-Ghazal State governor, Sarah Cleto, on Tuesday.

Woll said maintaining forces in the training centre was a major challenge since they did not have basic needs such as food, water, or medical facilities to meet their demands.

“The unified forces’ problem in Mapel training centre is the lack of food, water, and medicine. The three items are critical. We are the instructors who train the forces at the centre, and our centre is stable [only that] it is empty. We don’t have water,” Brig. Gen Woll told Governor Sarah.

“We want to tell you and your delegation that the forces that you see here are suffering. They don’t have anything. They don’t have food, they don’t have water, and they don’t have medicine; but because they understand, that is why they remained up to date,” he added.

Brig Gen. Woll commended Governor Sarah for her visit, saying the army needs the support of the government to meet such demands.

“Governor, we are under your responsibility. If we need food, we shall ask you. If we need medicine, we shall ask you. If we want to do anything, we will ask you. “You are our mother and father in the state,” Brig. Gen. Woll appealed.
