Magwi County to host Independence Day celebration

Magwi County to host Independence Day celebration

The 2022 independence celebration will be held in Magwi County, the Eastern Equatoria State minister of information, Patrick Oting, has said.

The official called on the Magwi County residents to prepare for the festivities by embracing one another and putting aside their differences.

The statement came during the extraordinary sitting of the council of ministers at the state secretariat hall, which was chaired by the governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, as the chairperson of the council of ministers.

Mr Oting said the program is to get the message across to those who are still unaware of the history of the country.

He added that the program would create a conducive environment for the interaction as it gives peace messages to the entire population in the state. He said the celebration was to be in the state capital but was shifted to Magwi County.

According to him, the rotation of the celebration is going to be a way of spreading peace to locals in the different counties and also giving a mood of interaction with different faces of other counties.

“The people of Magwi County should pull up their socks and be ready for the reception of independence day on the 9th of July 2022 which will take place in Magwi,’’ he urged.

He said plans were in place to ensure that all the seven counties were going to celebrate their independence the same as it would happen in Magwi County.

He emphasised that the role of the government is to make sure information reaches all people at the grassroots levels, adding that there would be representatives coming from all the eight counties of the state.

“Our role is to make sure that the message reaches people across the state and then we are also going to have people who are being brought from the different counties, be they youth or women dancers from each county,’’ he added.
