A lawmaker in the Lakes State Legislative Assembly representing the People’s Democratic Movement has joined the SPLM party.
Deng Arier Makoi, who was a Chief whip in the State Assembly said he was called by the community to return to the SPLM.
“The community had called me to come back and join the SPLM-IG not because I have not served well in SSOA or SSOA has not given me a satisfactory job.”
He said instead SSOA had given him a ticket to be a member of parliament and subsequently had an appointment that should lead the parliament as a South Sudan opposition Alliance.
“Upto here, the job given to me by the party is all satisfactory but a community call is bigger than anything over the political party. So, I have chosen to come back on a community call,” Arier explained.
“This is the reason for my resignation.”
He said his father had served in the traditional leadership for so long and had a huge contribution to SPLM. This prompted the community to call him back home.
“They told me that I shouldn’t be part of political opposition and that they decided I should rejoin the SPLM,” Arier explained.
He said there is no leadership that one can get without having people behind them.
