The management of Kator Football Club has fired head coach, Rezik Hakim, after the club’s poor performance in their first-round game with Al Nasir FC in the Division One league.
Hakim replaced former coach Ezekiel Al-Haj as Kator FC’s boss in July of this year.
Mr Hakim guided Kator to this year’s South Sudan Cup finals, only to lose to Amarat United on penalties.
Since their disappointing results in the finals, the club has hoped for more improvement from the team, but Hakim failed to live up to the expectations.
At the end of last month, Hakim stood on the touchline against Al Nasir, where the two teams shared the spoils.
It was the game that made the club officials angry. Nonetheless, it was not clear what went wrong after the Al-Nasir game, which sealed his fate.
The fans were seeking clarification from the coach as to why he had benched players such as Chol Peter Bentiu for the game against Nasir.
Other sources revealed that Hakim and his coaching staff had some arguments and threatened to resign.
However, the letter seen by The City Review from the club, said the club thanked the outgoing coaches for their good work while still with the team and wished them all the best in future assignments.
“In the board of directors meeting number 37, held on November 30th, the club accepted the verbal resignation from the coach after the Al Nasir game,’’ it noted.
He led the club to 6 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in the first round of the first division league, leaving them to finish second on the table (22 pts), two points adrift of table leaders Malakia FC.
