The Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has relieved Juba City Council Mayor Kaliso Lado of his duties.

The Office of the Governor announced Thursday evening that the firing was effective with immediate effect.

“Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has today issued a Gubernatorial Decree for the relieve of the Mayor of Juba City Council (JCC) Central Equatoria State, 2021 AD,” read a statement seen by The City Review.

“Gubernatorial Decree No.49/2021 for the Relieve of the Mayor of Juba City Council, H.W Kalisto Lado Faustino With immediate effect from today Thursday 18 November 2021,” it continued.

The statement said the “pronouncement for the incoming Mayor of Juba City Council shall be availed to the public domain as soon as possible.”

The gubernatorial decree did not give the reason for his firing.

Mr Lado was appointed the Mayor of the Juba City Council in March 2021. Within the eight-month tenure, he implemented radical development initiatives to place Juba to the standard of other world’s renowned capital cities by breaking temporary structures positioned at locations not approved by the council.

However, under Lado’s leadership, traders complained bitterly of exorbitant fees levied on them by the Council authorities in the name of fines.
