Gov’t announces 4-day break for Easter holidays

The government has announced a four-day period to mark the Easter celebrations.

All private and public institutions are called upon to observe the order issued by the National Ministry of Labour on Monday, April 11, with the normal duty to resume on Tuesday next week.

“The National Ministry of Labour hereby informs all the civil service institutions, commissions, diplomatic missions, UN agencies, international and national non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the public at large that the Easter Holiday starts on Friday, April 15, 2022, and ends on Monday, April 18 2022.” Work will resume on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, “the order read.

Roman Catholic Christians and some evangelical churches all over the world commemorate Easter Sunday. This comes after a month of fasting that ends on ‘Good Friday”—the last Friday before Easter Sunday.

The day will be expected to mark the first time in three years of the COVID-19 protocol that hindered past celebrations since 2019 in South Sudan.

The issued order was signed by Mary Hilary Wani, the Undersecretary of South Sudan’s National Ministry of Labour.
