Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has called on national and foreign investors to come and invest in areas of their interest, as the State possesses potential investment opportunities.
Lobong reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to opening up the State for investment as part of efforts to harness untapped natural resources for development.
He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation from Star Lory Mining Company in Juba on Monday, led by Engineer Den Chang Wang, to discuss potential investment opportunities.
Governor Lobong assured the delegation that Eastern Equatoria is peaceful and secure for investors, stressing that the State is blessed with abundant natural resources awaiting exploration.
He further encouraged the company to consider a wide range of sectors for investment, noting that the government is ready to provide support.
“We are committed to creating a conducive environment for investors. Eastern Equatoria is safe, peaceful, and rich in resources that can benefit both our people and our partners,” Lobong said.
On his part, Mr. Wang, the lead engineer of Star Lory Mining Company, said the firm had chosen Eastern Equatoria as its preferred investment destination in South Sudan.
He highlighted the company’s commitment not only to mining but also to supporting social services.
“Our vision goes beyond mining. We are ready to contribute to the construction of roads, schools, electricity networks, and healthcare facilities to improve the lives of the people,” Mr. Wang said.
The meeting is part of a series of high-level engagements Governor Lobong is conducting in Juba with potential investors. The State government hopes such partnerships will accelerate infrastructure development and economic growth in Eastern Equatoria.
Eastern Equatoria State has remained a peaceful state since the signing of the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
During his recent visit to Torit, the Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan, His Grace Seamus Patrick Horgan, told Eastern Equatoria State citizens to uphold peace.
“I have been in the Catholic Diocese of Torit and the beautiful Eastern Equatoria State since last Thursday. I was in Loa, came to Torit and had a visit to Hatire of Ikwoto County. I have experienced the real peace that exists in this State,” he said.
“My appeal to you is that let’s allow this peace to flourish by preserving it, let it be the peace from us, not an imported one. My prayers to you that you remain in peace and extend the same peace to other parts of the country because that is what the people of South Sudan are yearning for,” Patrick said.
The Nuncio revealed that his visit to the Catholic Diocese of Torit aimed at experiencing issues of the areas he represents and to bring the presence of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV closer to the faithful in the Diocese.
