Governor Futuyo gifts church motorbikes

The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Alfred Futuyo, has donated four motorcycles to the Catholic Diocese of Tombura in Yambio.

Futuyo made the donation after he visited the diocese headquarters on Wednesday.

In an interview with The City Review, State’s Press Secretary, Alex Didi, said the motorcycles were meant to support the activities of the church, particularly the newly ordained priests.

“Church leaders, especially in Western Equatoria State, whose residents sincerely desire everlasting peace, have a significant role to play in fostering peace among the communities.”

“The governor stated that, as a result, church leaders need to get help to make it easier for them to spread the message of God and foster peace among the people in the state,” Mr. Didi explained.

According to Didi, Governor Futuyo promised to extend his next support to the ECSS in Yambio to help their work.

The governor endorsed the constitutions of three churches—two from the Catholic Church and one from the ECS.

Futuyo reportedly urged the population to contribute what they have to further God’s mission.

One of the elders in the Diocese who received the bike, Thomas Bagbiawia, thanked the governor for his generosity to the church.

“We thank our Governor Alfred, on behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, for his support to the church.”

We sincerely congratulate him and pray that God may bless him with wise leadership, and affirm our commitment as a church to uphold the state’s laws promoting inter-communal harmony,” he said.
