The Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny has refuted Peter Biar’s recent allegation that President Slava Kiir had ordered his killing while in Kenya.
Addressing media at President’s Office last week, Ateny denied the allegation saying the government has no intention to kill Biar whom Kiir released from prison.
“His only problem is fear itself and such paranoia is the genesis of his return to the US, the current media blitz, and a call for sanctions and an increase in internationally sponsored protection forces in South Sudan. “He said
Adding that “Prisoners of war, political detainees and those with other forgivable offences including Biar were pardoned and thus the State has no interest in pursuing, monitoring or harming him.”
Last month, Peter Biar posted on his tweeter account alleging that President Kiir had sent a death squad after him in Kenya capital, Nairobi to have him killed shortly after landed in US with his wife and children.
According to the President’s Ateny faulted Biar of being obsessed following the death of Kerubino Wol, who was also an inmate with him in the prison.
Peter together with late Kerbino Wol and other convicts were pardoned by President Salva Kiir in January this year after spending nearly two years in prison.
