At least four people were killed in Twic County of Warrap State by a group of suspected cattle raiders from neighboring Unity State on Friday night.

John Mabior Maru, the acting commissioner of Twic County, told The City Review on Saturday that the four people killed were of Akuach village of Ayien Amuol Boma in Turalei Payam.

“The armed youths are believed to have come from Mayom County and raided a good number of cattle from Twic County on Friday. During the incident, four people lost their lives among the cattle keepers,” he said.

“The cattle owners from Twic County pursued the raiders and are still fighting in the Bulthii area of Ayien Amuol, and the situation in the area is risky.”

Mabior said he had notified his Mayom counterpart about the attack carried out by the youth from his area.

He appealed to the authorities in Unity State to recover the looted cattle from the criminals and return them to the owners.

Meanwhile, Mayom County Commissioner James Liyliy Kuol confirmed receiving a call from Twic County regarding the incident.

“Yes, I was informed by the acting commissioner of Twic County that armed youth went and raided cattle and killed four cattle keepers there,” he said.

“The criminals who went and raided the cattle from Twic County are not residents of Mayom County, they come from different places in Unity State.”

However, he said security personnel have been deployed along their border with Warrap State to recover the alleged raided cattle.
