The Easter FC of Yei County have booked a ticket for the upcoming national league after being crowned the Yei Local Football Association-South Sudan Cup (YLFA-SSC) champions on Saturday.

The winners took on the Black 04 FC in a tie where the game finished 1-1 in the normal 90 minutes.

But Easter Boys won the match in the penalty shootout, converting 6 of their penalties while Black 04 FC managed to score five and missed one.

The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) Vice President, Mr Charles Udwar congratulated both teams for keeping the discipline on the pitch.

“I must congratulate you for the discipline you have shown on the pitch, that is how football is what unites people because it has no tribe, language, or whatever divides people,” he stated.

Mr Udwar urged the Black 04 FC to work hard next time to win the cup.

He reiterated SSFA’s commitment to continue supporting the local football associations across the country.

Elsewhere, Nasir United FC of Maridi County, Western Equatoria State, will also represent their LFA in the coming National South Sudan Cup Tournament after being crowned the Maridi LFA-SSC.

Nasir United FC played Salam FC in the Maridi LFA SSC finals over the weekend in a match that attracted many fans across the town.

The national South Sudan Cup competitions will be organised after all the 16 local football associations competed in their local leagues and only the champions will take part.

Last week, two teams from Northern and Western Bahr el Ghazal states also had booked their place. The Black Eagles United of Aweil and Al-Hilal FC of Wau became champions of their LFAs.
