Cleto promise govt. intervention after donors withdraw funding from Kiir Mayardit Women’s Hospital

Health minister Hon. Sarah Cleto Rial on Wednesday visited Lakes State to assess the condition of health sector in the state and at a leading hospital in the region.

During her visit, the minister, who was received in Rumbek by the State Governor Madhang Majok Meen and members of the Cabinet, is expected to tour key facilities in the state and assess the conditions of Kiir Mayardit Women’s Hospital which has faced challenges following the withdrawal of HSTP funds from the international donor agencies.

In her statement to the cabinet members at State General Secretariat, Hon. Cleto assured the government of Lakes State of her Ministry’s commitment to restore health services for the people of Lakes State. The Minister will visit Kiir Mayardit Women’s hospital, Malek Payam of Rumbek Centre primary healthcare and Rumbek institute of health sciences.

For his part, Governor Majok applauded the Ministry’s decision to visit Lakes State and expressed the state government’s commitment to ensure cordial working relations between the Ministry and state government.
