Clash of Titans: League figureheads Atlabara meet Munuki on Friday

Close to two weeks after their 2-2 draw with El Merriekh in the Juba Local League, Munuki and Atlabara are set to lock-horns on Friday in a game that will decide the fate of Munuki of the former.
The winner of this contest will either edge closer to winning the league title or take the title race to the wire.
The reverse fixture ended in one all draw, as both teams went toe- to- toe in the fixture. So this particular one will be hard to call on who comes on top.
Atlabara were the come-back ‘kings’ after their recovered a goal in the 85th minute against Amarat United to draw 11, a match that they eventually won thanks to Keer Mangar’s winning goal that extended their lead to 5 points on top of Munuki.
Atlabara have won almost all matches in the second round as their only draw came against Viva Star in the Juba Local League.
Munuki is quite familiar with the opponent they are coming up against. The memory of that 1-0 loss in 2022/23 season against Atlabara on their playground, when having a fully fit squad to Atlabara’s 11 commandos will still be remembered by both teams.
Munuki’s fortune did not improve in a game that should have been taken serious against El Merriekh which would have cut the deficit to two points closer to the Bara boys.
Atlabara will go into the encounter with high hopes, knowing too well that a win will put them into a better position in the title race.
The last time both teams were successful was 2021/22 season. For Munuki and for Atlabara it was five to six seasons ago. This particular game brings in an atmosphere of intensity, as both teams will prepare to unleash their weapons of mass destruction for what is likely to be the game of the season.
Both teams will look to their leading guns, as for Atlabara they will look to the league’s top scorer with 20 goals and for Munuki, they will bank on former Kampala City Council [KCCA] star Luahachimba Faisal.
