The Bright Stars’ head coach, Stefano Cusin, has revealed that his players have moved on after their trip for friendlies was cancelled due to failure to acquire a visa on time.

“Yes, we were a bit angry, especially about the players not playing in the game, but at the end, we cooled down and we are happy,” the Bright Stars head coach told reporters at Juba Stadium yesterday when asked about their postponed journey to Dubai.

The team was supposed to play two friendlies against Gambia and Algeria, which were scheduled for November 13, and November 15, 2021.

The development came after Mr Cusin named a 29-man squad to compete in the games, where some players travelled from Germany, France, and African countries hoping to represent the country under the new coach, but all did not go well.

However, he said the whole target of the friendly was to organise the camp, but they now have to move on after the disappointment.

“Yeah, the camp is like when you are studying, then the exam is the game. Of course, we are supposed to go for the exams after training for some days, during which we are supposed to play the game.

“But things did not happen the way we expected. The only thing we need to [do] is to continue with the studies, and the only way to study [is to do it] comfortably and to be happy,” Cusin added.

Cusin added that expectations should not be high because it will take time to get good results.

“Yes, the expectations are high, but I believe slowly we will get where we are to go. Give me time to try players and get the right first eleven and in the future we will be ready.”

The friendly was supposed to be the first-ever competitive test for the Italian since he took over the Bright Stars in September 2021.
