Soldier sprays businessman with bullets in gruesome suspected revenge killing
A 45-year-old businessman in Aweil South County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal has been shot multiple times and left dead on Thursday before the assailant fled the scene.
Kon Luol Kon was shot by a soldier who verbally threatened him earlier despite the two not having any disagreement.
The police spokesperson of Northern Bahr el Ghazal Guot Guot Akol told The City Review that the alleged killer was a division 11 soldier identified to be CPL Koang Arol Koang.
He is also believed to be working at Anyoeny-Agaal market between Gogril and Aweil South. The police spokesman said the motive of the killer was unclear as the two had no misunderstanding.
“The motive behind his killing is not yet known because he is still at large up to now and the incident happened at around 5 am this Thursday, February 17, 2022, and we were informed at 7 am that Koang found the deceased in his shop and he started fighting him and shot him,” Guot explained.
Eyewitnesses said they heard Koang telling the late that “you will die today” and the late replied, “what for, we haven’t quarrelled and we haven’t had any differences before”.
Moments later, the threat turned into action as Koang sprayed Luol with bullets and left him dead. Afraid of the wrath of the law and looming mob justice, the assailant fled the scene.
He is still at large and the police have been deployed to contain the situation. The police in Aweil vowed to apprehend the killer and bring him to justice.
