The Central Equatoria State Cabinet has on Thursday passed a SSP5,180,947,420 billion budget for the financial year 2021/2022.

In a statement shared with The City Review, the state government said three quarters (SSP4,833,776,060) of the budget will be obtained from the National Government Grants while SSP347,171,360 comes from state revenues, which constitutes only 7% of the total resources for the fiscal year.

Addressing the press after the cabinet sitting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil on Thursday, Central Equatoria State Minister of Information and Communications who also doubles as the Official Government Spokesperson, Andruga Mabe said the budget was crucial in fast-tracking developmental projects in the state.

“This budget includes grants from the National Government and State-owned revenues aimed at fast-tracking the implementation of the state strategic pillars of security stabilization, sustainable peace, service delivery, economic recovery and return program of the internally displaced persons and those in the refugee camps,” he said.

Andruga added that the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Investment, Wani Tom Sebit, is expected to table the draft budget before the State Revitalized Transitional Legislative Assembly for endorsement before its operationalization.

“This budget was discussed in length and passed with some amendments in the figures, and the Minister of Finance and Planning was directed to present the bill to the State Transitional Legislative Assembly for appropriate consideration,” he added.

The state government, however, did not indicate how much will be allocated for the implementation of each strategic pillar.
