The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, His Lordship Eduardo Hiiboro Kusalla has called on citizens to embrace the spirit of charity and forgiveness to promote love and peace among them.

Speaking during the launching of Jubilee at St. Mary Mother of God Parish in Yambio, Bishop Hiiboro urged every Christian to embrace the spirit of compassion to become a shining star of Bethlehem that led the Magi to Jesus.

“Hope is the essence of life. Without hope, we are like the dead, Hope keeps us moving forward, trusting in the future, and believing in ourselves.”

“It is the heartbeat of every dream and the foundation of every action,” Bishop Hiiboro added.

He said a true hope must translate into tangible acts of service, describing charity as the mark of a renewed soul.

The cleric highlighted that selfless service involved helping abandoned elders, paying school fees for children outside their families, and providing treatment for those who could not afford it.

“A believer is recognized by their actions, when you choose compassion over revenge, when you give to those in need despite your challenges, you become a beacon of God’s love,” he noted.

Drawing inspiration from the story of the Magi, the Bishop highlighted the significance of being a guiding star in society.

“Every person can be a light in the world, a dedicated teacher, a trustworthy neighbor, or a responsible leader all have the power to illuminate the path of truth and righteousness,” he said.

He emphasized that truthfully, practicing forgiveness, and serving others with humility not only earn respect but also inspire collective peace and prosperity.

Bishop Hiiboro envisioned a nation where citizens live by values of respect, dignity, and honesty, reducing crime and fostering harmony.

“Imagine a South Sudan where we respect one another’s property, safeguard public resources, and uphold integrity in all spheres of life. That is the South Sudan of hope we can build together,” he stated, encouraging a renewed commitment to forgiveness, service, and community development.

In his call for transformation, Hiiboro reminded South Sudanese that true jubilee true celebration of faith comes from genuine repentance and renewed service to others.

“Let us ask God for forgiveness and forgive ourselves. Then, and only then, can we celebrate with joy and holiness.”

His message resonates at a time when South Sudan continues to seek peace, unity, and development.
