Bentiu Olympic FC has joined the list of teams set to represent their states in the Local Football Association (LFA) in the national tournament which is set to begin after the end of the local league competition.

The other teams are Amarat United of Juba, Malakia of Torit, Zalan FC of Rumbek, and Yambio Stars of Yambio.

This is after Bentu Olympic FC were crowned champions of Bentiu Local Football Association South Sudan Cup B-LFA SS-CUP 2021 on Monday.

Bentiu Olympic FC won an epic battle by 2-0 against AI Ahly Rubkona to be crowded SS Cup 2021 champion for the second time in a row.

Two goals scored in the first half by Leo Lam and Ruot Dak were enough to seal their second local league title in a row.

The match was attended by South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Gen. Augustino Madut and state government representatives headed by state minister of agriculture and town mayor Nyechang Nyachieng Tuet.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Gen. Augustino urged the state government and other football families to continue to support the Bentiu Local Football Association to achieve the dream of football in the country.

“We need to support our local associations even if in normal or troubling situations. We need to help and lift youth activities in the state especially grass-roots football and women football,” he appealed.

He encouraged women to take part in football saying the game was not only for men but both genders adding that sport was the only activity that can unite people across the country.

Gen. Maduot further urged the private sections within the state especially oil companies and other local organisations to support athletics with sports kits and other needs.

He was confident that SSFA is fully committed to supporting the local football association in the state.

The five teams are now waiting for other local football associations to end their competitions.

The winners of those Local Football Associations will be representing their association in the national competition, where they will face winning clubs from other states in the national tournament.
