The former South Sudan national cup champions Al Rabita has been relegated to the second tier of Juba local football Association.

The relegation was confirmed after they were beaten 1-0 in their encounter with Nujum Jamaric yesterday evening. Nujum Jamaric took a 3-1 aggregate in a two-legged tie after winning the first leg 2-1 at home.

Nujum Jamaric received a red card in the early minutes of the first half and turned it into a fortune, playing well against their opponents Al Rabita.

Al Rabita goalkeeper proved essential as he helped his side, making superb saves from shots from the opposite strikers, despite the team losing the match.

Al Rabita failed to make it count, as the players were visibly laid back and did not add pressure against their opponents.

The second half was with no clear chances as Nujum Jamaric defended well and attacked Al Rabita despite being less with one man sent off.

The full-time whistle confirmed Al Rabita’s relegation, who will now have to show up from the second division.

The Nujum Jamaric defender, Maker Mangar said it was a big challenge having a red card in the early minutes of the first half. However, they ended up laughing last at the till end of the match, and will now be playing in the Juba Local Football first division for the first time.

Meanwhile, Al Rabita winger, Emmanuel Fuli Faustino said they had a tough beginning with the South Sudan cup, and their setbacks piled due to lack of management.

Faustino revealed that he will go with his club to the second division and ensure he gets them back to the first division.

” Rabita is my family. I joined them in 2017 and it is not an easy decision leaving such a club,” he said.
