The Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony yesterday directed the newly appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police Lt. Gen. Nicola Dimo Biojo to cooperate with all the state security organs to restore peace and order in the state.

This came after an appointment was made into the position which had been vacant after the state lost its assistant inspector general to cancer in January 2021.

The Spokesperson to Governor Derick Derickson confirmed that Biojo was now the State Police Commissioner and also the Assistant Inspector General of Police.

“Governor Adil also directed the new police chief to work proactively and swiftly especially in diffusing issues of general crimes, targeted killings, and land grabbing,” read a statement from the Gubernatorial Press.

The governor is also said to have acknowledged the tireless efforts of other security organs in the state in maintaining and salvaging the security situation in the state.

He reiterated that his government would be committed to stabilizing the state.

The incoming assistant inspector general also assured the governor of commitment to execute his duties and offer satisfactory services to the people by protecting their lives and property.

“Lt. Gen. Nicholas also calls for a maximum level of cooperation from the civil population especially in gathering any intelligent information that will enhance the investigation units and offices in countering and dealing with any related criminal cases with swift actions,” the statement continued.

The briefing is said to have been attended by the Deputy Governor, Advisor on Security and Peace, State Ministers of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency, Trade and Industry, and other Security officials in the State.

The former Assistant Inspector General of Police who also served as the Police Commissioner of Central Equatoria State John Jol Bod Bod died on January 21, 2021, at the age of 67.

Bod Bod passed on at Freedom Hospital in Juba where he succumbed to throat cancer.

There have been countless crimes in the country including road ambushes along Juba-Nimule Highway.

In August, two nuns were among the five passengers who were killed in an ambush along Juba-Nimule Highway.

The police said they would investigate the incident and bring the criminals to book but the criminals are still at large to date.
