Adil appoints new Juba mayor after Kalisto’s dismissal

The Governor of Central Equatoria State (CES), Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has appointed Michael Lado Thomas as the new mayor of Juba City Council, just a couple of days after the sacking of Kalisto Lado.

Adil made the appointment in a gubernatorial decree no. 50/2021 issued on Saturday evening.

The decree read in part: ‘‘H.E Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State, has today issued a Gubernatorial Decree for the Appointment of His Worship, the Mayor of Juba City Council, Central Equatoria State, 2021 A.D.

‘‘Gubernatorial Decree No.50/2021 for the Appointment of H.W. Michael Lado Thomas Allah-Jabu as the Mayor of Juba City Council with immediate effect from today Saturday, 20 November 2021.’’

Kalisto was fired in a gubernatorial decree 49/2021 issued on Thursday.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Office of the Governor noted that “Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has today issued a Gubernatorial Decree for the relieve of the Mayor of Juba City Council (JCC) Central Equatoria State, 2021 AD.

“Gubernatorial Decree No.49/2021 for the Relieve of the Mayor of Juba City Council, H.W Kalisto Lado Faustino With immediate effect from today Thursday 18 November 2021,” it added.

However, no reasons have been given for the sacking of the former mayor.
