Abdelbagi rings the bell as over 53,000 P.8 candidates start exams

The Vice President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi, rang the bell at Mayo Girls Primary School on Monday to signal the start of the Certificate of Primary Education examination.
An estimated 53,220 candidates are sitting for the primary leaving examinations, with 31,232 men and 21,988 females across the country.
The pupils began with an English paper yesterday morning at 9 am and they will be sitting for a science paper today same time.
Addressing hundreds of Primary Eight candidates at Mayo Girls Primary School on Monday, VP Abdelbagi emphasised the core values of education and called upon the candidates to work hard and use their knowledge to get good results.
“I am happy to be here with you because it is a good day for our pupils as they are going to sit for their final primary leaving examinations, as well as go on to join the senior secondary schools.”
“I hope the eight years of learning in basic school are going to [pay] off today. I want you to concentrate on what you have learned to achieve good results. It is what will take you to the next level,” he said.
Abdelbagi encouraged the candidates not to worry, saying the ongoing exams were not unusual.
“It is the same thing in the books that you have and in the books that we are giving you. So, I wish you all the best and want to see you celebrating your next level of education next year, “Abdelbagi added.
He urged the candidates to work hard, perform better, and get better grades than in the past, revealing that in the last few years, there have been cases of cheating.
Meanwhile, the Minister of General Education, Awut Deng Acuil, encouraged the candidates sitting for exams to be strong and calm when answering their exams.
“I want to wish you well. This is your time. It is now your turn to put on paper what you have learned for the past eight years, and God is going to be with you. “
“Remember every single thing that you have gone through, and remember that panic is not a good start. So, be calm, strong, and confident when you get into your exams,” Minister Acuil stressed.
