Chelsea proceeds to FA Cup semis as Ziyech shines against Sheffield

Chelsea beat EPL bottom-placed side Sheffield United 2-0 in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup to advance to the semifinal of the tournament.

The Blues boss rotated the team opting to go with Giroud in the attack, youngster Billy Gilmour in midfield and deploying Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal. Sheffield on the other hand fielded a strong side featuring David McGoldrick.

Mason Mount whipped a corner kick enabling Chilwell to take a shot which deflected off Oliver Norwood to give the hosts the lead in the first half. Christian Pulisic was denied twice after the American dribbled his ways to take his chances against Aaron Ramsdale.

In the second half, the visitors stepped up their game and won balls in their half, and used long balls to catch their opponents on their brakes. McGoldrick headed wide one of the best chances of his after receiving a cross from John Lundstram.

Hakim Ziyech scored his second goal in as many consecutive matches after launching a counterattack, setting up Chilwell who fed him in the box.

Manchester City will take on Southampton while Chelsea will face the winner between Leicester City and Manchester United come next month.
